Against the hillside (on the right) stood a large two story stone barn. The barn housed draft animals on the first floor and feed on the second. A road actually led up the bank to the second floor. Out in the meadow (left & top of the image) were several other barns, wagon sheds and a blacksmith shop. Draft animals were a very important part of life in the ironworks village. All the materials coming and going from the village were hauled in wagons by oxen, mules and horses.

Near the old barn foundation we will be erecting a wood frame barn, disassembled from its former location on Westbrook Road.
