View of furnace area

A unique thing about this historic site is that you can see the remains of three generations of iron furnace technology spanning the 120 years that the ironworks was in operation. This kind of evidence cannot be seen anywhere else in the country.

The ruins at the left side of the image are the remains of the Colonial era furnace.

Farther back (closer to the center of the image) are the remains of the Civil War era furnaces and the water wheels.

The bridge (at the far right) goes to the Charcoal Road and on to Jennings Hollow, Ward Mountain mine, Beech Place and the Ringwood mines and Manor.
